For best results, it’s a good idea to learn what triggers your cold sore and how to recognize the signs–a tingle, redness, bump or itch–so you can start to fight it as soon as you feel it. Use Abreva cream at the first sign of a cold sore and continue to use it five times a day for up to 10 days. So don’t ignore the tingle. Act on it fast with Abreva.

  • Can I peel the scabs on my cold sore?

Do not peel the scab as you could damage the new, delicate skin underneath. Instead, let the scab fall off naturally.

Once the scab has formed, your cold sore is almost completely healed. Keep applying Abreva Cream for 10 days or until the scab has fallen off, whichever comes first.
